Immersive Sound

The combination of the AvantGrand’s expertly crafted sound and innovative speaker system offer a gorgeous, room-filling experience for both the player and those who may be listening.

  • Spatial Acoustic Sampling
(Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial voices only)
The remarkable sound of an AvantGrand is sampled from carefully selected points on an acoustic piano soundboard.  Beautifully sculpted speakers are expertly positioned to reproduce the natural tones, colors, and harmonies of the original acoustic instrument.
  • Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)
VRM simulates the interaction between an acoustic piano’s strings, soundboard, and body, reproducing the subtleties of the sensation you feel in your hands and feet while pressing the keys and pedals.
  • CSP BinauralRemarkable on Headphones Too!
Yamaha’s advanced binaural sampling* technology means the sound you hear through headphones is stunningly lifelike.  Using a headphone in the shape of a human head, with the microphones placed where your ears are, the sound of the acoustic piano is captured with location-based information along with other nuances discerned by the human ear.  The resulting sound is so natural, you will forget you are wearing headphones.
